Hello Pack 618,

Registration is now open for fall family camping at Camp R-C on September 11-13.  As many of you know, it's a great location on Christopher Creek east of Payson, just over two hours away.  We will have hiking, fishing (I'm told the trout are biting!), exploring and lot of other good fun in the cool pines!

Please register on both of the following links.

First, let us know that you're coming by clicking here, selecting any button, and providing the requested information for our insurance.

Second, let us know what you want to eat (burger or hot dog) and what you can bring for Saturday night potluck dinner.  That signup is here.  Thanks to Debbie Bagley for organizing the Saturday dinner!

If you are not camping, you can still come up just for the day on Saturday. Please sign up on the links above so we have all your information, and then drop me a note so we know when to expect you.

Details will be forthcoming, but we're planning a hike around 10 am, dinner around 5:30 pm, and a campfire that will be over by 8 pm or so.  That means you can leave Scottsdale at 7:30 am and still be back home in your bed by 10:30 pm.  We are not planning an organized program for Friday or Sunday.

PVUSD schools (and many others) are off on Monday the 14th, so you should have plenty of time to rest up afterward.

Looking forward to camping with all of you!

Hello Pack 618!

I hope you all had great summers -- where does the time go?

With school starting this week, it's time to start thinking about scouting again.  Some of you have already heard from your den leaders; the rest of you will be hearing from them soon.

I have a couple of announcements:

First, Fall Family Camping is September 11-13 at Camp R-C.  Please mark your calendar, and make every effort to attend.  The rank advancements have changed this year, and overnight camping is now REQUIRED for Wolves and Bears as well as Webelos.  If you do not attend this event, it may be very difficult to make up the new camping requirement.

Secondly, if you have a first grader in your family or if you have friends who are interested in joining our pack, please let me know.  We will start actively recruiting for new scouts in the next week or so.

And finally, the leaders will be meeting next week to plan the year's calendar of events.  If you have any interest in being part of the planning process or if you have any suggestions for things that we could do differently, please let your den leader or me know.

Thanks everyone!  It's going to be a great year!
